I set this website up for two reasons. The first was because of two new books I have written called A HISTORY OF JUDO and A SLOW BOAT TO YOKOHAMA which is about my training years in Japan. These can be ordered from the Books page on this site. The former came about because of a lecture on judo history that Bath University asked me to do for its EJU Judo Foundation BSc Degree course which was called The Historical Development of Judo. This led me to do a lot of translation work and checking of facts.

Secondly I did a number of other judo talks for the course and these can all now be found in Archives on this site plus other articles on judo.
